NEW HSE has been delivering NEBOSH training for many years. We were the first accredited NEBOSH Learning Partner in Poland, and our courses are taught by experienced tutors with extensive international health and safety backgrounds.

The NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety is the most widely respected health and safety qualification of its kind. More than 265,000 people hold it, and NEBOSH assessments are taken in over 130 countries. It is designed for anyone building a career in health and safety, and for those who want to strengthen their position as an HSE professional. Because our course is delivered in English and our learners take their assessments in English, it is particularly valuable for professionals working in international organisations where English is the working language.

Prefer to study at your own pace? Take a look at our NEBOSH IGC blended e-learning course, which you can start at any time.

Entry requirements

There are no mandatory entry requirements for the NEBOSH International General Certificate. NEBOSH recommends a standard of English equivalent to IELTS 6.0. If you are not sure whether your English is sufficient, we can send you a short internal evaluation test. To request it, email us at biuro@newhse.pl.

Current NEBOSH IGC specification

The current NEBOSH IGC syllabus is the 2025 specification, introduced for teaching from 2 February 2026. The first assessments under it took place on 4 March 2026. All NEW HSE courses follow the current specification.

What this means in practice:

  • The two units are now called GIC1 and GIC2.
  • GIC1 remains a scenario-based open book examination, with 24 hours to complete and submit your answers. It also includes a closing interview, in which you are asked questions about your submission.
  • GIC2 is a practical risk assessment carried out in your workplace. You submit it yourself, through the same NEBOSH Assessment Platform, within 10 working days of the GIC1 assessment date.
  • GIC2 is marked using a points-based system with a pass mark of 60%. Every learner receives a mark breakdown showing where marks were awarded.

Results for both units are issued on the same day, 60 working days after the GIC1 assessment date, so you receive the outcome of the whole qualification at once.

2-part assessment designed for real-world application:

  • Unit GIC1: Open Book Examination
GIC1 is a 24-hour scenario-based open book examination completed online. You analyse a workplace scenario and submit your answers through the NEBOSH Assessment Platform. GIC1 also includes a closing interview, in which you will be asked questions about your submission.

  • Unit GIC2: Risk Assessment
Apply what you have learned by completing a practical risk assessment in your own workplace, or another suitable one. You submit it yourself through the NEBOSH Assessment Platform, within 10 working days of your GIC1 assessment. It is marked out of 100 with a pass mark of 60%, and you receive a breakdown of your marks for each section.

Learner Voices: Real Experiences from the NEBOSH IGC Course

I thoroughly enjoyed our NEBOSH IGC course. It was a great learning experience, and I was particularly impressed with the course structure. Having read the coursebook beforehand, I realized during the course how effectively the material could be delivered. I especially happy with our insightful discussions and exchange of thoughts, not only with our tutor but also with my fellow learners. It was a wonderful opportunity to push myself beyond my comfort zone, which I believe is vital for development. Speaking in front of others can be daunting, but it’s only through these experiences that we can truly grow. This course has been incredibly important to me, and I’m keen to continue learning and developing. I found what I was seeking here, and I’m certain that this marks just the start of our journey together. Thank you so much for your dedication.

I am pleasantly surprised—not only by how much I’ve learned but by how this course changed my mindset. I started as a beginner, but now I see this as more than just a job. Here, I found not only knowledge but also a true sense of purpose.

Arkadiusz Zajdel Alumni of the NEBOSH course at NEW HSE

Arkadiusz Zajdel

I really want to say THANK YOU. My previous experiences with safety professionals were quite different from what I have encountered here. This course has renewed my belief in the importance of prioritising care for people. I am so HAPPY to be here, where I see people around me – experienced Health and Safety professionals – who share a similar point of view. It is incredibly POSITIVE for me. I was quite scared before starting the NEBOSH IGC course, but this experience shows me that there are people who genuinely want to make a difference in health and safety, just like I do.
