Course Content: The NEBOSH International Diploma
is structured into three comprehensive units:
Unit ID1: Know – Workplace Health and Safety Principles:
- Socio-legal models, enforcement, and the role of international bodies (ILO).
- Organizational structures, leadership, and health and safety culture.
- Competence, training, information, and supervision.
- Hazard identification, risk management, and loss causation.
- Professional skills, societal factors, and corporate social responsibility.
Unit ID2: Do – Controlling Workplace Health Issues:
- Occupational health services, mental health, and wellbeing.
- Health surveillance, hazardous substances, and biological agents.
- Noise, vibration, radiation, and musculoskeletal issues.
- Workplace temperature and welfare arrangements.
Unit ID3: Do – Controlling Workplace Safety Issues:
- Safe working environment, confined spaces, and fire safety.
- Dangerous substances, work equipment, and machinery safety.
- Electricity, construction, work at height, and workplace transport.
Assessment:
The NEBOSH International Diploma is assessed through three units:
Unit ID1: Assessed via a comprehensive assignment involving a case study, workplace-based activities, reflective tasks, and a research project (20 working days to complete).
Units ID2 & ID3: Assessed through scenario-based case studies requiring the application of learned knowledge (10 working days to complete each unit).
NEBOSH estimates a total of 475 hours of study, including 185 taught hours, 144 recommended self-study hours, and 80 hours for assessments.
Entry Requirements:
While there are no mandatory qualification entry requirements, it is strongly recommended that learners hold the NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety. A strong command of the English language is essential, with a recommended IELTS score of 7.0 or equivalent.
